Even as a young child, Ando loved telling stories. She was recognized in school for her creative writing, and her parents encouraged this trait. As she grew older, the subject matter for her writing matured from best friends being sucked into a computer game to supernatural horror. Though some modern stories and movies have caused the supernatural horror genre to seem rote and tired, Ando has been drawn to it, hoping she might overcome the stigma of such elements as vampires, ghosts, and possession.
